Opportunities to get involved

Earn points on your company's BBBEE scorecard!

for companies ...

The BBBEE scorecard of a company is compiled according to seven codes (elements) including Socio-economic Development (SED Code 700). Companies with an annual turnover above R5 million could contribute 1% of their net profit after tax (NPAT) towards Socio-economic Development to score points on their scorecards.

However, many companies do not have the human resources, time or expertise to manage Socio-economic Development initiatives and apart from that it unfortunately became a risky business to invest in organisations for different reasons.

Use your CSI budget to earn SED expenditure points and receive a Section 18A certificate.

funding procedures and options ...

Option 1 - Your company chooses an organisation, which you would like to support, from our portfolio of approved organisations. We then prepare a proposal based on your contribution (1% of NPAT) explaining how the funds will be applied.

Option 2 - Your company just deposits the 1% into Tsoga Foundation's bank account and we will inform you which organisation(s) will receive the funding.

Once the funds reflect in the Foundation’s bank account, we'll issue your company with a Section 18A Certificate (for tax deduction purposes) and the relevant documentation for BBBEE points as proof that you’ve donated funds for Socio-economic Development (Code 700) indicating the applicable SED criteria. These documents must be submitted to your accredited BBBEE verifier for verification and for points on you BBBEE scorecard.

feedback ...

Your company will receive SED points and a Section 18A certificate for the full amount. The Foundation retains 15% of the contribution for administration costs; to monitor and evaluate the organisation that received the funding; and provide your company with appropriate feedback regarding the utilization and the impact of your contribution.

GREAT NEWS FOR 2016!!

I've been working with a number of organisations taking care of OVCs for the past ten years, and my overall impression is that there is a desperate need for equipping people (caregivers and managers) with much needed skills and knowledge to care and protect children and to plan and manage their organisations effectively.

We, at Tsoga Foundation, decided to share our knowledge, skills, and years of experience with everybody by compiling a practical manual that will cover a wide spectrum of information.

I am busy compiling this manual and make it available for everybody in South Africa who are taking care of orphaned and vulnerable children (and other children).

The working title of the manual is: A PRACTICAL MANUAL FOR THE CARE AND PROTECTION OF ORPHANED AND VULNERABLE CHILDREN IN SOUTH AFRICA.

It will be marketed as wide as possible at a affordable price.

We will keep you posted.

our values ...

“Work for justice. Help the down-and-out. Stand up for the homeless. Go to bat for the defenceless” (Isaiah 1:17).

“Enough! You've corrupted justice long enough, you've let the wicked get away with murder. You're here to defend the defenceless, to make sure that underdogs get a fair break; Your job is to stand up for the powerless, and prosecute all those who exploit them” (Psalm 82:2-4).

“Speak up for the people who have no voice, for the rights of all the down-and-outers. Speak out for justice! Stand up for the poor and destitute!” (Proverbs 31:8-9).

Do it for the children of our country!! This is God’s heart for His children … the little ones!!

We believe that children also have rights!

These rights are contained in the Bill of Rights in the Constitution of South Africa. The Constitution clearly states that children’s rights must be promoted, protected and respected this include:

The dignity and worth of the child. The state must make sure that all children are treated equally and are not discriminated against.

The child’s need for development and growth

A child needs to be able to play and engage in activities that suit the child’s age and developmental capacity.

The right of children with disabilities to be encouraged and supported whilst taking care of their special needs.

(From: The Children's Act Explained. Department of Social Development and UNICEF).

“Children participate when they are heard. When the qualities of their character are nurtured and affirmed this gives them the confidence to try the new and grow.”

(Nodi Ipp, Virtues Project)

Children's rights

  • to be protected against harm and violence

  • to develop their full potential

  • to grow up in peace

  • to be assisted first in cases of emergency

  • not to be neglected, abused and used

  • to receive medical care and nutritious food

  • to be loved and cared for

  • to learn and play

  • to have their own name

  • to be heard and noticed

  • to receive special care if disabled

our dream is ...

to become the voice for broken children who can't speak for themselves, contribute towards their healing and development.

therefore we ...

seize every opportunity to create awareness of the need of Orphaned and Vulnerable Children in South Africa.

to achieve this ...

we established Tsoga Foundation to channel funding from the business sector; foundations; and individuals to selected organizations in the social sector in order to promote Socio-Economic Development in South Africa.

our beneficiaries...

The Foundation has a portfolio consisting of "smaller" organisations providing care and services for Orphaned and Vulnerable Children (OVCs) that do not necessarily have access to funding from large corporations, companies, foundations and trusts.

These organisations have been identified, assessed and evaluated against a set of stringent criteria to ensure return on investment for funders; that they adhere to the criteria for SED points; Section 18A and Public Benefit Activities; are sustainable, reliable; and well managed.

our experience and associates ...

The Foundation operates in association with:

Lina du Plessis (Assessment and Quality Assurance Consultant) who offers a comprehensive service to assist businesses to become involved in impact-driven Socio-Economic Development.

Lina du Plessis has extensive experience in the design, planning, implementation and management of community projects funded by the private sector and national and international foundations.
